Creating a New eForm and Roll Forward from Historical Period
This help article details how to create new eForms in Systrends eForms and how to use the roll forward function.
About roll forward: this step will automatically populate the prior period column from the previously filed form in your account. The imported values will be those that match the concepts, units and periods of the facts in the current form.
Creating a new document:
There are two ways to create a new eForm in Systrends eForms.
The first way:
- From the Home screen of Systrends eForms app, select the “Open the XBRL document creation assistant” shortcut.
- When prompted, fill out all fields in the pop-up. Then click “Create.”
- The assistant will automatically populate the correct taxonomy based the year, quarter, and form that you select
The second way:
- From the main screen of the Systrends Compliance app the side menu, click the “Editor” button. In the Editor, you’ll find a list of documents that you can access.
- In the upper right-hand corner of the Editor, click “Create New Document” to choose the XBRL Taxonomy for the form you are preparing.
- When prompted, fill out all fields in the pop-up. Then click “Create.”
Note: If you need to resubmit a form from a prior period, choose the taxonomy that corresponds to that time period.
Your newly created form will open, and you’re ready to roll-forward from a historical period.
Roll Forward:
- With your desired eForm open, navigate to the “Import” menu, select “Roll-forward.”
- This will open a list of your other forms that exist in Systrends eForms. From this screen, you have a few of options:
- Maintain schedule assignments: when checked, this feature will replicate the sharing permissions of the document you’re rolling forward from.
- Roll forward footnotes: if you want to carry over the footnotes from the roll forward document, this feature gives you the option whether to add to your existing footnotes on your document or replace them.
- Select schedules or import all facts: you can default to import all roll forward facts from the document or just select certain schedules.
After making your selections click “Import All Facts.” The imported values will be those that match the concepts, units and periods of the facts in the current eForm. - When the roll-forward is complete, the Balance Sheet, for example, will have the “Prior Year” column populated with the as-filed data from the prior filing you selected while the “Current Year” columns will remain blank.
You’re ready to add your team to the document and start populating the schedules.
